The so-called "Costa Vicentina", the western coast of the Algarve stretches over more than 60 km from Cape St.Vincent, the south-western most corner of the European continent, to Odeceixe on the Algarve-Alentejo border.

We recommend staying at Monte Velho, a charming, colourful converted farmhouse about a mile from the ocean, nestling on a hill in a National Park.  This is wild, unspoilt Portugal, and the beaches are incredible.

The rugged rocks of the steep coastline are interrupted by small sandy bays. The climate is slightly harsher than other parts of the Algarve but still gorgeous from Spring to Autumn.  The surging swell from the Atlantic is spectacular, and lures surfers from far and wide.
