If your expectations go beyond daily swimming and sunbathing and you enjoy discovering historical sites, the cultural route should be your choice.

The sites are both numerous and spectacular.  The unmissible Hvar offers a vibrant restaurant and cafe life combined with the stunning Venetian architecture. The Old Theatre, the Fortress with breathtaking views of Hvar and old stone houses with red tiled roofs encapsulate this beautiful place.

The island of Korcula (pictured above) is equally charming, and claimed to be the birthplace of the famous sailor Marco Polo.  Often referred as 'Little Dubrovnik', it has a wonderful promenade that runs through the town by the city wall.

The Diocletian Palace in Split dating from the 3rd century, was built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. The Palace has maintained its authenticity despite being home to numerous galleries, restaurants and residental areas. The famous Riva promenade, reopened in June 2007 with a new contemporary look, is the best spot for sipping a refreshing drink in the sunshine.

To add a zest to your route we highly recommend seeing one of the musical festivals during the summer, especially a capella group singing traditional Dalmatian songs without help of any musical instruments. The most famous capella festival takes place every summer in Omis.
