agadir morocco

Agadir is not a beautiful city but head along the coast for half an hour and you're going to find glorious beaches, comfy accommodation and some great surfing.

With British Airways now offering direct flights to Agadir from London (as well as easyJet) it's possible to arrive in a reasonably civilised way.  It's a 3 hour flight and, when you arrive - whatever the season - you can expect warm sunny days.

Our featured destinations here are:

  • Paradis Plage - a 107 all-suite beachside hotel (opened early 2012) that has a superb selection of suites and bungalows, a first class surf shop (and instructors) and one of the best yoga studios we've ever encountered, with direct views over the ocean.  Perfect for both adults and families.
  • Sofitel Thalassa Sea & Spa - a grand and imposing 5 star 173 bedroom resort with lots of swimming pools, direct access to the beach, and an excellent Thalasso Spa.  Located south of Agadir, in easy striking distance of the local golf courses.

It gets very hot during the day from mid June to early September but, being on the coast, this is normally tempered by a refreshing sea breeze.  Best time to visit is March to May, and October.

With a recently opened new motorway connecting Agadir to Marrakech, it's now just a 3 hour drive between the two cities.  The route takes you through the Atlas Mountains, which are most definitely worth a stop - particularly if you're a hiker or just want to relax somewhere quiet for a couple of days and enjoy the sensational landscape.

Other beach destinations in Morocco

  • El Jadida - for a superb beach resort for tons of activities for both adults and families
  • Essaouira - for a selection of boutique riads in this charming and funky coastal town
  • Oualidia - for a delightfully remote and relaxing 11 bedroom beach hotel with a lovely spa

Weather and when to go

Agadir has a semi-arid climate with milder winters and hot dry summers. Average temperatures range from 5°C in the Winter to 36°C in the Summer. The wet Winters and dry Summers are similar to those found around the Mediterranean however with slightly drier Winters. The best time to visit Agadir is in the Spring and Autumn with abundant sunshine during the day and cooler evenings, temperatures are around 30°C.

Tipping is customary in Morocco, and while it is certainly up to the discretion of each client, to a certain extent it is recommended in order to guarantee the best level of service. We can provide you with a list of recommended tipping scales if you wish, or suggest an all-inclusive tips package that can be included in the total cost and that we promise to distribute fairly to ensure the best possible service.
