costa vicentina

costa vicentina portugal

The so-called "Costa Vicentina", the western coast of the Algarve stretches over more than 60 km from Cape St.Vincent, the south-western most corner of the European continent, to Odeceixe on the Algarve-Alentejo border.

The rugged rocks of the steep coast are interrupted by small sandy bays. The climate is slightly harsher than other parts of the Algarve but still gorgeous from Spring to Autumn.  The surging swell from the Atlantic is spectacular, and lures surfers from far and wide.

In ancient times, this area was already considered sacred as it was the end of the known world.  Around Vila do Bispo and Raposeira, neolithic menhires have been found and human footprints which are almost 5,000 years old.  So, you will not be the first person to visit this wonderful coastline but you will certainly find it peaceful and spectacular.

Ideal for both adults and families.  During your stay at Monte Velho, the chic coastal farmhouse, our experts can tailor-make your holiday combining all the ingredients you require, such as private yoga classes and restorative massages, which, when combined with some surfing, biking and hiking makes for a great break in the sunshine.
