Fly to Mexico to enjoy the luxury beach resorts on the Mayan Riviera overlooking the warm, crystal clear Caribbean sea, or head inland on the Yucatan Peninsula to explore the magnificent ancient Mayan ruins... or both!

The Mayan Riviera is best visited any time from November to May.  It has subtropical climate, so its weather ranges from warm to hot for most of the year. The average temperature over the year is about 80ºF or 27ºC and the sea is almost always warm enough for a swim.  The coolest time of year falls between November and January.  During these months the daytime temperatures are very comfortable and warm, but the air tends to cool off at night.   From February to May the weather is at its most pleasant and the flowers come in to bloom. The sea is calm for swimming  and diving and there is very little rain.

Our recommended resorts here include:

All our featured hotels and resorts on the Mayan Riviera are luxurious and spectacular.  All have wonderful spas, superb service, and offer an excellent selection of facilities, services and activities.

From a cultural perspective, you’ll find the Mayan site of Tulum and the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve nearby to the south, and with the second longest reef in the world tantalisingly close by, scuba divers are likely to find the temptation irresistable.

Chichén Itzá and Uxmal

For those looking to go beyond the coast and explore the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá and Uxmal in the interior of the Yucatan Peninsula, we have carefully selected some charming haciendas as convenient bases for visiting these magnificent monuments.  We can tailor-make the perfect itinerary for you.

Why not combine a luxury stay on the coast with a wonderful cultural experience in the interior?

Weather and seasons

Split in half by the Tropic of Cancer, Mexico has a temperate climate in the north experiencing cooler temperatures during the winter months and hot, humid summers which rise the annual averages to between 20 and 24°C. South of the twenty-fourth parallel, temperatures are warmer and fairly constant all year round between 24 and 28°C and varying as the elevation changes.
