ouarzazate

ouarzazate morocco

Ouarzazate is a dusty desert town to the south of the High Atlas Mountains, about three hours south of Marrakech by car.

This is an area of romance and adventure.  Our recommended place to stay here is the luxurious 19th century kasbah Dar Ahlam.  From here, the hotel can arrange half-day or full-day excursions for you to the area’s best sights.

Your adventures may start with a guide, 4x4 and a driver as you head out on dusty roads to explore the magical Dadès and Drâa valleys.  Be sure, also, to  visit Glaoui Kasbah and its old Jewish district; in February and March, sweet-scented almond blossoms cover the valley in delicate shades of pink and white. Quad-bike or camel-ride your way to nearby gorges, fortified villages and local  souks.

Alternatively, confident riders can make their way to the shores of Almansour Lake on Arabian stallions.

Why not combine your stay at Dar Ahlam with a few nights in Marrakech or in the Atlas Mountains?
