tunis tunisia

If you simply treat the city of Tunis as a gateway to your beach resorts, you will be missing out...

During your stay at the luxurious and family friendly Residence Tunis, close to both Carthage and Tunis, you are perfectly placed to visit both - if you so wish - during your holiday.

In Tunis, you can explore the ancient medina (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and the city's 'Nouvelle Ville' with its charming, broad pavements shaded by trees. Tunis also boasts many cultural gems, notably the Bardo Museum, which has one of the finest collections of Roman mosaics in the world.

Perhaps the most essential cultural excursion during your stay in Tunisia is to the ancient Roman city of Carthage, with its villas, baths and ruins.

We can organise excursions to these and other places of interest.

Weather and seasons

Tunis, on the northern coast has a temperate climate with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers. May to October is the best time to visit, although the summer months are Tunisia’s high season, so expect prices to go up and tourists numbers to incease substantially.  The desert is like a furnace in summer, and the best time to visit Tunisia if you want to see the Saharan dunes is in late autumn.
