calcot manor

weekends from £500 calcot manor england

This unpretentious, child-friendly Cotswold stone farmhouse has converted barns and stables ideal for families or couples and a large, sassy spa.

Rooms in the main house are supremely comfy, painted in soothing matt colours, and each of the converted outbuildings has been individually designed with a country-modern feel. Enjoy Mediterranean-inspired fine dining with healthier options in an elegant conservatory; there’s also a gourmet pub for more casual and children’s meals.

At the contemporary spa, we adore the outdoor green slate hot tub, set in its own courtyard. Indoors there’s a good-sized, moody-blue-lit swimming pool, and on the floor above, a sauna with a view of the pool, a steam room, and genuinely quiet relaxation area. Enjoy facials by Cornish organic brand Spiezia, massages by British brand Aromatherapy Associates, holistic treatments such as reiki and reflexology and good maternity massages for mums-to-be.

Hotel guests can attend the changing rota of weekly studio classes such as pilates, yoga or boxing free of charge. If you’re champing at the bit to be outside, there are 220 acres to explore, including a 3 km trim trail in the grounds for morning walks, jogs or cycling. Play tennis on site, go for a bike ride or play golf nearby. It’s a perfect place to bring babies and children and still get some respite. The tithe barn is dedicated to little ones, and includes a private cinema and a crèche – there’s also an outdoor play area.

  • It’s supremely baby and child-friendly
  • The staff are friendly and down to earth
  • The Conservatory restaurant – delectable food, warm atmosphere & country views

  • You’ll need to cross a car park to get to the spa
  • The house is set just off a road
  • The spa is highly popular with outside guests

Healthy Traveller Tip

Take a dip in the hot tub in the evening, when a roaring log fire is lit and you can sip champagne or a smoothie under the stars.
