martinhal beach resort

7 nights from £725 martinhal beach resort algarve

The recently opened Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel has ambitions to be recognised as the finest luxury family resort in Europe.

Located on the south-westernmost tip of Europe, Sagres has long been a popular destination for nature lovers, surfers and divers who appreciate this beautiful, unspoiled environment.  Martinhal is the first luxury resort in the area, creating a new destination where eco-conscious couples and families with children of all ages can relax beside one of the Algarve’s most beautiful beaches.

The resort spans 75 acres, offering well priced, understated barefoot luxury.  You can choose from a variety of  different accommodation options. There is the 38 bedroomed five star boutique Hotel Martinhal as well as a wide selection of privately-owned villas and townhouses with private pools, set in large gardens, that are perfect for families.

One of the great attractions of the resort is that it offers a huge range of activities for both adults and children. For restorative spa treatments, or a steam or sauna, visit the Finisterra Spa.  For a more energetic experience Club 98 is the lively, sporty meeting point for guests with its own swimming pool, bar, three tennis courts and two glass sided paddle tennis courts.  The Club's also the place where you go to book lessons for a range of land and water based sports, including mountain biking, horse riding, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving.

The resort features two distinct children’s areas. A fully staffed crèche for the wee ones and the ‘Blue Room’ for pre-teens and teens to hang out together and play a range of games from table tennis and table football to computer games on Wii’s and Play Stations.

Martinhal also has five swimming pools including a large indoor/outdoor pool.  Overlooking the beach, there's an enormous elevated sunbathing deck, and large swimming pool, with drinks and food served all day from the poolside bar.  When you feel that it's time for a workout, the resort has a well equipped gym too.

In the resort's village square, a variety of handy facilities include the village store for a great selection of high quality deli items. There's also a laid back bistro on the square which is a great spot from breakfast through to late supper with good quality a la carte menus and a wood fired pizza oven.  Other restaurants around the resort offer a range of food and wines, but head to O Terraco for gourmet dining.

If you fancy spending an evening at home with the children, just order in a movie and an Indian, Chinese or Italian take-away.  All will be delivered to your door.
