The ancient walls of the riad are over a metre thick, providing an oasis of beauty and peace in the midst of the noise and bustle of Marrakech. Yet it’s just a five minute walk to the heart of the city, the main square of Jemma El Fna.
With careful attention to detail and respecting the historical importance of the riad, the property has been lovingly restored to a very high standard, and provides everything you need for a wonderful stay in Marrakech, whether you just want to relax and unwind, or have a base from which to explore the sights and sounds of the city and the surrounding area. With 21 luxuriously appointed rooms, three pools, a spa, private cinema, bar and restaurant, secret terraces and magnificent colonnades, Riad El Fenn is an excellent choice for your stay in Marrakech.
One of the riad’s great joys is the abundance of private areas around the house, for reading, eating, drinking, sunbathing, or snoozing. The lush gardens of the terrace and courtyards attract a mass of songbirds and also offer discreet privacy, the two high colonnades, the snug salon with its open fire and its ‘moucharabia’ window overlooking the courtyard. The magnificent roof top terrace is the place to pass the day. Huge and comfortable with a vast shaded soft seated area high above the city, a rose and organic herb garden, daybeds, corners to make your own and a good sized plunge pool. It has some of the best views in town, a panorama of the Atlas mountains and Marrakech’s beautiful mosque, the koutoubia. At dusk the city lights up and glows around you – you can see the steam rising from the food stalls in the square – and then the moon rises….
The riad’s approach to food is to keep it simple, fresh and made from local produce only. They cook the produce of their own organic garden in the foothills of the Atlas mountains and source everything else from the daily markets. Lunches are simple, with salads and vegetables, a light fish or chicken dish, cheese and dessert. But dinner is a much more elaborate affair, offering the best options available from the market that day.
Riad el Fenn has two resident beauticians, two massage and treatment rooms, a hammam, a little resting lounge to use after the hammam or to have your nails done.
A range of beauty treatments such as manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing are available. It’s also possible to arrange for outside practitioners to visit El Fenn should you be interested in a yoga class or a treatment/massage which isn’t on the riad’s spa menu.
If you wish to enjoy a private yoga class during your stay at Riad El Fenn, this can easily be arranged in a quiet spot at a cost of approx. €30 per hour.
