son net

7 nights from £610 son net majorca

This is one of the grandest residences in Majorca – an elegant, luxurious property with expansive palatial interior spaces and beautiful grounds

Hotel Son Net is set on a small hill looking over the village of Puigpunyent in the south west of the island. It’s conveniently close to Palma to explore the capital and yet safely rural to feel away from it all – in the middle of the Tramuntana mountain range.

There are only 31 rooms and suites – each elegantly coloured in its own individually grand style. The style is traditional with high quality bright fabrics and furniture. Bathrooms are marble and spacious.

The hotel’s interior combines expansive natural stone floors with ancient rustic beams – a central feature is the gourmet restaurant, ‘Oleum’, built around a 17th century oil press. There is another, more relaxed poolside restaurant, ‘El Gazebo’.

We especially love the 30m outdoor pool overlooking the surrounding mountains and the private cabanas by the pool for each guestroom.

The gym has a good selection of equipment and the spa extends beyond the confines of the two treatment rooms into the cabanas where treatments can be enjoyed in private. The surrounding area is ideal for the outdoor active types with beautiful mountain hiking and biking opportunities.

Highs

  • The expansive pool with large terrace and private cabanas
  • Sense of space and grandeur
  • Excellent service and staff attention to detail

Lows

  • The style in some of the rooms may be overly bright and opulent if  you're a lover of minimal chic
  • The spa itself is only a couple of treatment rooms, but the therapists can transport their skills to other private cabanas and corners of the grounds
