A beautifully modernised ancestral home, dating back 200 years, set in glorious jungle gardens 15 minutes outside Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka.
The restoration has been undertaken with great care and the result mixes colonial charm and elegance with contemporary design touches. With only nine rooms the house retains an atmosphere of a private home and makes for the perfect retreat after a day out and about in Kandy and the hill country.

All 9 rooms are named after Sri Lanka butterflies and are individually styled incorporating local fabrics, elegant furniture of various generations and modernized amenities. There are four Utra Rooms – these are larger and have access on to a verandah with chaise longues, reading chairs, table and other antiques; ideal for more private dining and relaxing. There are five Deluxe Rooms which are a little smaller than the Ultra Rooms, and not all enjoy access to their own private verandah. Two are Twin Rooms without a bath (but with separate shower). Otherwise, all amenities and standards of furnishing are to the same high standard.
The Kandy House is between 2 to 3 hours from Colombo.
