5 nights full board from £2,649 triple creek montana

Triple Creek Ranch was once described as one of the best kept secrets in the Rocky Mountains and is a member of Relais & Chateaux.  This luxurious adult only hideaway sits at an altitude of 4,500 feet amid a million acres of pristine wilderness.

All levels of rider are catered for, with daily rides of up to 2.5 hours and the opportunity for off-ranch trail rides and cattle drives at an additional cost.  Cattle Drives take place on a neighbouring ranch and are offered as an additional activity on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays in June to mid October each year, and we recommend this be pre-booked to avoid disappointment.

Facilities at Triple Creek Ranch include an outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, fitness centre, tennis courts and putting green. The restaurant offers world class cuisine and a fabulouswine cellar and arranges specialty weekends for wine lovers with tastings and seminars.

Activities on offer include mountain biking, fly fishing with lessons, scenic float trips, golf, white water rafting and all-terrain vehicle rentals.

Triple Creek Ranch is open most of the year and offers a number of winter activities including cross country skiing, snowmobiling and downhill skiing.

Special romance packages and fishing packages are available. Other special weekends and packages include Artist Weekends, Women Only Horseback Rides and Photo Safaris.

The first class accommodation consists of luxury cedar cabins equipped with wood-burning fireplace, private or nearby hot tub, fully stocked wet bar, telephone, satellite TV, DVD, in room safe and wireless internet.

Triple Creek Ranch is located approximately 4 - 5 hours south of Glacier National Park and 5 to 6 hours west of Yellowstone National Park so it ideally situated for exploring this area of outstanding beauty on a North America self drive holiday.

Cedar Cabins - Baker and Boulder are two delightful Cedar Cabins, featuring open floor plans with king size or twin beds and a cozy sitting area near the wood-burning fireplace. These cabins benefit from having access to a hot tub tucked nearby in the woods.

Suites - These two large, beautifully appointed and adjoining cabins, each have spacious living areas with a wood burning fireplace and spacious separate bedroom. Situated alongside No Name Creek, you will be able to relax on the deck listening to the sounds of the water trickling down the stream.  The suites also have close access to the lodge, swimming pool, fitness room, and a cozy hot tub in the woods.   It's about a 50 yard walk to the main lodge.

Sugar Cabins - The elegant Sugar cabins feature over-szied king, log post beds and offer comfort and solitude with wooded views from a private deck.  Each cabin has a separate shower and a whirlpool tub.  An outdoor hot tub can be found nearby nestled in the woods.

Luxury Cabins - Most of the luxury cabins at Triple Creek have open floor plans that feature living areas with wood-burning fireplaces that can be seen from the massive king log post beds.  All of these luxury cabins feature his and hers baths and share a double steam shower.  A private hot tub is situated on the deck, beneath the whispering pines.

Castle Rock - Named after a mountain peak south of Triple Creek Ranch.  Castle Rock Cabin is a favorite retreat for honeymooners and those seeking romance.  The living area is beautifully appointed and the spacious bedroom features an over-sized king, log post bed.  Castle Rock's most stunning feature is the forest view sunroom with an indulgent cloverleaf whirlpool tub and cozy seating area. The two decks will entice you to relax and watch for wildlife along Baker Creek or among the sheltering pines.

Weather in the mountains

The elevation at Triple Creek Ranch is an invigorating 4,600 feet.  Springtime temperatures range between 45° and 75° with crisp mornings and evenings.  Summer days are warm and sunny, anywhere from 65° to 95° and may cool down to 45° at night.  Autumn tends to be a bit warmer than spring, with temperatures between 50° and 80° during the day, and dropping as low as 30° after sunset.  Winter days are typically 25° to 45° with overnight temperatures in the low 20s.

Weather can be unpredictable.  Storms can occur with little warning and temperatures can change quickly.  In all seasons, it is best to be prepared for varying conditions by layering your clothing and carrying extra water. Because of the higher elevation, sunscreen and lip balm are highly recommended along with hats and a lightweight, long-sleeved shirt to protect you from the sun.

Outdoor lovers and sports enthusiasts will find a wide variety of activities for all seasons on the ranch and in nearby locations.  Whether you prefer extreme sports, a true western adventure or simply the serene beauty of mountain fishing, there is no more scenic backdrop than the Bitterroot Valley.  Depending on the season, guests at Triple Creek can enjoy at the ranch or nearby:
