Stays at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge centre around the main lodge building. Its welcoming interiors, warmed by an open fire, are more reminiscent of a private members’ club than a hotel. Although rich in homely features, the décor is minimal, emphasising the natural beauty of its location.
Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is all about getting out into the Canadian wilderness. Guided walks cut through the Great Bear Rainforest. Those with experience in the saddle can opt to go offroad on a mountain bike. Grizzlies can be seen on foot and on river drift excursions by inflatable rafts. However, the piece de resistance has to be a heli-hike to both inhospitable and mesmerisingly beautiful scenes high in the mountains.
Guests can chat about their day’s adventures in the lounge, before dining on menus guided by the region’s produce. A gym has exercise equipment and space for yoga, while a spa contains a hot tub and cedarwood sauna. There is also a games room, and elevated wildlife viewing platform, alongside a lawn known to attract foraging bears.
The 42 individual chalets are spacious and well-appointed. Large windows provide lovely views, while seating areas can be found both inside and outside on a raised deck. Accommodation is a mix of one and two bedroom log suites, one bedroom chalets with a kitchen, two and three bedroom log homes, and a honeymoon suite.
