I thought my holiday would be good but I was unprepared for how brilliant I would feel by the end of the week evening standard

Tenerife is known throughout the world as the Island of Eternal Spring and enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other part of Spain, with an average annual temperature of 23ºC.
The island, the largest of the seven that make up the Canary Island archipelago, is just over 200 miles from the African coast, and about 850 miles from the Spanish mainland. Slightly to the north of the Tropic of Cancer, situated in the centre of the chain, between Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma.
We are featuring the island's best hotels:
Abama Golf & Spa Resort - a 160 hectare ‘finca’ (private estate) tucked away in Guía de Isora, a tranquil and little known area of the island. This excellent resort is set on breathtaking landscape that runs all the way down to the ocean and features its own private beach. Brilliant for families, but it also has an adult-only section.
Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque - a stunning resort styled like a late 19th century village, on the island's south coast. It has its own beach, 5 swimming pools, tennis, squash, water sports and a superb ESPA for the ultimate in indulgent relaxation. There's also aerobics, fitness, Pilates and Yoga.
La Caleta Resort & Spa is an excellent family resort operated by Sheraton, which is a very good and a cheaper option than the Abama.
RedLevel is a boutique adult-only hotel within the Hotel Gran Melia Palacio de Isora, and is the perfect getaway for adults looking for year-round sunshine.
Hotel Botanico is located on the north coast and is a great value hotel with an excellent oriental spa, complimentary daily classes (such as yoga, pilates, meditation, tai chi and aquagym) and easy access to a range of beaches and coves.
Baobab Suites is an sleek, contemporary all-suite hotel (ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms) with a sports club, spa and kids' club. Also offering yoga, pilates and personal training.
