Tenerife is known throughout the world as the Island of Eternal Spring and enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other part of Spain, with an average annual temperature of 23ºC.

The island, the largest of the seven that make up the Canary Island archipelago, is just over 200 miles from the African coast, and about 850 miles from the Spanish mainland. Slightly to the north of the Tropic of Cancer, situated in the centre of the chain, between Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma.

We are featuring the island's two best hotels, both are gorgeous.

Abama Golf & Spa Resort - a 160 hectare ‘finca’ (private estate) tucked away in Guía de Isora, a tranquil and little known area of the island.

Abama features volcanic landscapes, exuberant vegetation with over 300 varieties of plants, trees and palm trees, with breathtaking panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Island of La Gomera. With a spectacular situation on the south west coast of Tenerife on the smooth slopes of the Teide, the highest peak in Spain, this excellent resort is set on breathtaking landscape that runs all the way down to the ocean and features its own private beach.

Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque - a stunning resort styled like a late 19th century village with colourful pastels and a cosy feeling. The hotel is on the island's south coast and has its own beach, 5 swimming pools, tennis, squash, water sports and a superb ESPA for the ultimate in indulgent relaxation. There's also aerobica, fitness, Pilates and Yoga.

Weather and seasons

Tenerife has a mild year-round climate with an average temperature of 23C. With its coastal position, there is little or no humidity, and there is very little rain. Temperatures are cooler from December to March and average 21C, whilst average temperatures rise to around 27C in the summer months.

Getting here

It's a 4.5 hour flight to Tenerife from London, followed by a 30 minute transfer to our featured resort on the island: Abama Golf & Spa Resort. Flights can be arranged directly through EasyJet, Monarch or other low cost / charter airlines.
